THE STRUGGLES AND MOBILIZATIONS OF TRADE UNIONS AND ASSOCIATIONS OF CLASS-ORIENTED RETIRED WORKERS AND TRADE UNION AND SOCIAL ORGANIZATIONS OF BRAZIL STOPPED THE PENSION REFORM PLAN OF INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND (IMF)

THE STRUGGLES AND MOBILIZATIONS OF TRADE UNIONS AND ASSOCIATIONS OF CLASS-ORIENTED RETIRED WORKERS AND TRADE UNION AND SOCIAL ORGANIZATIONS OF BRAZIL STOPPED THE PENSION REFORM PLAN OF INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND (IMF) THAT IT WAS GOING TO START BY THE GOVERNMENT OF TEMER.

The important mobilizations managed to stop the plans of the Government of Temer and the IMF, at the service of the large economic and financial groups, to be installed in December 2017, the pension reform process, very negative for the fair, necessary and gained  rights by the struggles of the working class. A pension reform that increases the age for retirement, establishes a partial replacement rate in relation to the wage according to the contributions, and increases up to 50 years of contribution for a full retirement, among other regressive measures.
The suspension of voting for the Pension Reform by the Congress, with the excuse of the emergency situation provoked by Temer himself, against the opinion of high-ranking officers of his army, it´s a victory of the struggle and resistance of the workers and the people that promoted the class-oriented organizations, and a defeat of the Government and members of the powers of the State, in their policy of unloading the crisis of the capitalist system on active and retired workers.
The important mobilizations, the resistance of the immense majority of the people, leaded by its working class, are the decisive factor that government officials must recognize the popular disapproval and its incidence for the negative support of the necessary votes for its sanction.
As an excuse, the Government decreed the federal intervention of Rio de Janeiro, for what there cannot be constitutional amendment to modify the retirement system, since the ¨Carta Magna¨ establishes that there cannot be modifications when a federal intervention, the state of defense or the state of siege would be present.
Our TUI P&J-WFTU, the trade union centrals and class-oriented trade union organizations of the WFTU of Brazil, America and the world, stand in solidarity with the struggle of the working class, of the active and retired workers, and the Brazilian people, who remain in a state of alert, firm in the front line to face new attacks of the dominant power.
The TUI P&J-WFTU of America´s leadership, gathered in San Pablo on 8/29/2017, adopted the following resolution, among its conclusions, which continues to be in full force:
"Within the considerations that we have evaluated on the situation in each country to face the directives of the IMF and international organizations of the capitalist system, which advance in the subjugation of the gains achieved by the working class in Social Security, it was resolved:
¨Taking into consideration the pension systems and the projects we develop in each country, we must develop common elements to promote continental coordination.
¨To coordinate actions in support of each of our struggles, towards projects of common actions, strengthening the TUI P&J and WFTU in each country, to raise our awareness of the historical role of the working class, of active and retired workers, in the proletarian, revolutionary, anti-capitalist and socialist internationalism ".
